The headphones need to be plugged where the speakers go, they are the same thing to the computer/software.

If you plug your headphones into the same jack that your speakers were plugged into and working from, and the headphones still don't work, it's time to get a new set of headphones.

There isn't a volume control designed for the headphones specifically, so you won't find one, the pc treats headphones the same as speakers.

If you've tried different headphones and they work, and your settings are all right (if you have more than one headset plugged in at a time, you have to tell your computer which one to use), then the headphones are broken. You'll have to buy some new ones.

Where are you plugging in the headphones? You should plug them into a speaker jack. If you are using a jack on the front of your case, it's possible that the jack is not hooked up.
