What does it mean if you don't trust people?

And I need to stay away from people because if I don't I may lash out at them. I do not trust people and if they say or do something to piss me off I may get violent

Could be you have Paranoid Personality Disorder. Its common in people who suffer from depression. Don't worry too much about it OK? The first thing to keep in mind is you are not the only one who suffers from this. There is support out there and start with your family doctor who can lead you in the right direction.

Well there are at least 3 very different issues here, and maybe more.
1) To trust, or not to trust.
2) Anger management
3) Violent actions

You don't have to trust anyone, in fact in the beginning I don't. A person has to earn my trust as I have been burned to many times in the past.
So that is not really a problem here as there can be a logical answer for not trusting people in general.

The anger issue is always a problem. Misdirected anger or over doing it is something that you need to work on controlling and only you can do that. You must tell yourself that getting mad will only make the situation worse and try to keep yourself calm.

The Violence - JUST DON'T GO TO THAT POINT. Unless you want to be a sex slave for Bubba in the prison.

You hit or hurt anyone in any way and you will be going to jail or prison. It's just not worth it...

You are failing to notice that the judgment of mis-trust always arises in you! When you are unaware where the problem is, it can be projected, by the mind, onto others. Projecting it externally is the minds way of making you feel you have gotten rid of it in you. Yet the real truth is "What you give is what you receive". Mis-trust is in you!
