Cmon...is it not obvious?

Let it be known that payroll does have something to do with it. The Yankees should have never been down in the first place with all the talent they have. I'm sick of everyone saying they made an incredible comeback, they just started playing like they were suppose to. Colorado, that was a comeback.

I posted a similiar question yesterday in regards to General Manager Mark Shapiro. It was Shapiro who managed to bring in prospects like Grady Sizemore & Travis Hafner by trading aging talent like Bartolo Colon.
Shapiro is also genius for moving Wedge over from Triple-A to the Tribe's manager.
And... Wedge did a FANTASTIC job in helping develop these players. Not only as Manager of the Indians, but what he did in the farm system.
HANDS DOWN, WEDGE WINS MANAGER OF THE YEAR.
Who else has brought a team from under .500 in 2006 to tied for the best record in baseball the very next year?
These people saying Torre deserves it are a joke. These are probably the same people that were calling to get him fired when they were slumping earlier this year.

Edit:
The guy above me. please. The Indians were "expected" to compete with a bunch of prospects last year... but the Yankees are heroes for having a bunch of all-stars play like crap 1/2 of a season and then finally pulling themselves out of it?

Team payroll is not an issue when it comes to manager of the year. It all comes down to what the manager was able to accomplish with his team. With that being said, I believe Wedge has a good shot to win based on his performance in leading his team to the playoffs.

It wasn't exactly his managerial moves that did it. Also, payroll has nothing to do with being manager of the year. He is considered for the award but Cleveland was supposed to compete this year. This is what they were expected to do last year.

Yankees overcame a HUGE deficit this year to make the playoffs for the 13th straight year. Yes they have better talent and a higher payroll.

Wedge will probably get the award but not unanimously.
