If this is your first baby, you may have a while. It is impossible to predict how many hours you will be in labor. Babies have their own timetables... they come when they want to.

I was told to wait until my contractions were 3minutes apart and lasting longer than a minute that the baby would be coming soon. This started up with me around 3:30 one morning and my daughter was born six hours later. But birthing time varies from person to person.

when your contractions are about 4 minutes apart and lasting about a minute each, head for the hospital.

I was pushing with irregular contractions 8-15 minutes apart.
I labored 43 1/2 hours.
Theres no way on Gods green earth to know the answer to your question.

There is no way to know, every labor is different for every person. My doctor told me to go into the hospital when they were 5 minutes apart but your doctor may tell you something different. Best wishes!

There are 3 stages of labor:
1. 1st stage of labor
- contactions 2-3min interval
- average duration of this stage is 8hrs for 1st time pregnant women and 5hrs for women on 2nd or > pregnancy.
2. 2nd stage of labor
- from the time of full opening of cervix to baby expulsion
- contractions every 1-2min interval
- average duration 50 min for 1st time pregnancy women and 20min for women on 2nd or > pregnancy.
3. 3rd stage of labor
- time of delivery of infant to expulsion of the placenta
So, with a 10min interval contraction.. you are not yet considered to be in labor. You might still have a day or so to wait before you start to be in labor.
Hope this will help!
