If you got stitches you have to wait, no ifs ands or buts about it. That tear, no matter how small, needs time to heal and if you have sex now it will make things worse and make your healing time that much longer.
You don't need to wait until your 6 week checkup but give it at least 3 weeks, make sure you're feeling "normal" down there before getting into action. There are lots of things you guys can do without the actual intercourse...
By the way, I think it's awesome that you guys are feeling so... loving... towards each other. A lot of men don't look at the woman quite the same for a while after having the baby. They tend to realise that the area down there is not just for them!

I have had three children. Remember that your hormones are going crazy right now so it's perfectly naturally that you are "in the mood". I would suggest waiting at least a few weeks more, especially since you had stitches and you don't want to risk infection.
I have known plenty of people (myself included) that didn't wait and everything was fine. Yet infection can be a very real danger right now so consider carefully before deciding not to wait until your first checkup.
There are other things you can do to express your newfound connection as well as relieve your urges. Take this time to experiment within your relationship and explore new things.

Wow! After my son was born I was so tired with caring for the baby I slept whenever he slept! It's amazing you're even up for that! With a tear you need to let that heal ... once you've stopped bleeding get him to check down there or check with a mirror ... see how the healing is doing ... once the stitches have dissolved and if it looks healed ..then I wouldn't see the problem in trying but if it hurts I would wait don't try and ignore the pain. The 1st few times I had sex after my son were painful had to take it slow. You may find it too painful not pleasurable ...after the bleeding is done there are other ways of pleasuring each other! ;) I hope this helps!

You really need to wait the full 6 wks. I have three children and after my third my husband and I didn;t wait and I ended up with an abnormal pap on my check up. I had to have some special treatments done and the doctor said it was because we didn't wait. My doctor said that the penis is the dirtiest thing and that having sex to early after birth can cause serious infection and lead to having to have a hysterectomy.
I am glad things between the two of you are doing well but if he is really interested in being with you he will wait until you have healed.

My aunt got pregnant again two weeks after delivery.
People dont always wait, but its best for your body as its easy to get an infection, to damage the uterus, or even cause bleeding to worsen.
Personally, I was a sex monster while pregnant, but didnt have sex after birth until about 10 weeks... lol. The thought was repulsive.

Oh lord honey...
Your hormones are still kinda crazy, which is why you want the sex.
I would ABSOLUTELY WAIT until you get your check-up. It may not seem painful right this second, but honestly, the pain will be horrendous if you try right now.
The stitches will rip (mine took almost the entire 6 weeks to completely heal), you can get infected, your body may not be able to produce lubrication...
I would just hold out. There are other things to do besides actual sex...now those may be possible. :)

I waited 2 1/2 weeks! I don't suggest doing this, however. . .knowing that it was the first time doing it without being pregnant and being scared and him having to be extra gentle made it feel like the first time with him again. It was great!

You should wait the six weeks. Your birth canal just went through a huge ordeal, it needs to heal. You will do more damage if you have intercourse now, and probably need more medical attention.
There are other types of sex besides intercourse, you know!

I had a man that didn't want to wait the full six weeks, we had "nice" sex after four, when my bleeding stopped and my episiodomy was pretty well healed. I suffered no ill effects. its a infection issue.
