Napoleon Bonaparte once said of decision-making: "Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide."

The older I get the more enjoyable decision making becomes. I think we realize as time passes that decision making is always a bit diffficult as options may be many and with no guarantees. But when a decision has to be made you make it, and live with it, learning from both the correct and the incorrect choices improves your ability the next time.

Most decisions are so easy to make you aren't even aware you've made them (take your grocery list, for instance).

It's the really important decisions that are hard, and there's nothing comforting about them until you've decided and realize you made the right decision.

We've cut two of our children off from the National Bank of Parents, and the third is perilously close. Those were hard decisions.

I have always made the decisions. It has always been left to me. I have a good head on my shoulders, a lot of common sense and street smarts so I can handle making decisions with no problems normally !!! But ........ What is frustrating to me is that I have to do it all the time with no help what-so-ever !!! I need some input from the other members of my family !!! It just isn't happening !!! They are the most indecisive people I know !!! They get it from their father !!! ... *smile*

Napoleon was right. I have trouble making decisions and it can get very frustrating and anxiety producing.
I hum and ha over a decision and when I eventually make it I agonise whether it was the right one or not.
It is a precious quality. I have never heard that quote. Thank you for bringing it up.

I hate when people can't make a decision on the easiest things. I used to work in a retail capacity and people could not pick something out. They would hum and haw over things forever. .
It makes you think what do they do about the rest of their lives.
if a major decision had to be made. Or they would ask their friend what do you think? What does it matter what their friend thinks. Do you let others make decisions for you? Think for yourselves, I felt like hitting them upside the head.

Naturally, there are different types of decisions to be made. Some are made instantaneously, others that are of a major issue, takes longer to make. I always research as much as possible before deciding which way to go

I would say both. It is frustrating, if you have down sides on all your choices and no way to avoid it.

It is then comforting to know that you have made the best decision that you could, and did the best that you could.

I know that is taking the middle of the fence, but that is the way that I see it.

For me, finally coming to the point of MAKING the decision is comforting for it speaks of some level of resolution and action rather than sitting around fretting about it and it then allows me to 'move on'.

It's a comfort to me to be able to be able to still make decisions on my own with no difficulty.
