If one does not, it may lead to civil strife and bloody war with ourselves. We are not a divided nation, we are more like a quartered nation.

Because the Liberals aren't really liberal and the Conservatives aren't really conservative. Before they can concede to anything, they first have to concede that they are not what they say they are.
It's a pack of corporate-sponsored lies, brought to you by the advertising industry to keep people ignorant of the activities of a few powerful men who decide what gets on the news, who we will be allowed to vote for in primaries, and how much our money is worth.
The Liberal-Conservative argument is a show, set up and maintained to keep you from looking elsewhere for solutions to problems in your own community and even in your own family. As long as the Grand PoohBahs of DemoPlicans tell you that they have Plans for your Children's Future and to Save Us From Everything, then you won't make plans of your own within your local circles. As long as the government promises to build you a road, you won't do it yourself. As long as the corporations promise to build you a better way of life, you won't try to do it yourself.

It's all lies.
That's why they don't work together. Cooperation doesn't sell more cars than you need. Competition does. Cooperation doesn't scare you into fearing the nice black man living next door. Competition does.
Its up to you to see through the fear. Don't wait for them to change. They like it just the way it is.

Dissent is part of the checks and balances that keep things going to far astray. Conceding is not an option, but civility and truth and transparency are mandatory in civil discourse.

So rather than concession, I would ask for civility, manners, respect, truth, and transparency.

Then they'd both be losers

The trick is to get the other side to concede while you stand strong

Because to do so would be tantamount to admitting they're wrong, and human beings have a nasty tendency to think they're never wrong (and will therefore never admit they're wrong or do anything that even looks like admitting they're wrong).

I don't see how as their values completely conflict with each other. For example - liberals want this country destroyed and conservatives want national sovereignty.
