Mhh please specify Empires failed due to Superiority Complex. I found some were destroyed for underestimating the enemy, maybe.
Present do not recall history as :
1) do not know it ....
2) Their are deaf to history. This is the problem, thinking we are better than a Roman citizen, a Greek Scholar, or a middle ages Shepard only as we are "Modern" we have Internet we have computer and so on. Not considering than, taken one by one, we are the same people , even more lazy and dumb due to modern easy things and accustomed to lack of responsibility...

America is not an empire. Never tried to be, never claimed to be. If America wanted to be an empire, American citizens would of colonized Italy, France and half of Germany at the end of WW2. If America was trying to be an empire, we would of attacked and colonized Canada and Mexico a long time ago.
One of the reasons empires conquered countries was to enslave people, Americans try to stop slavery.

That's what 's keeping the third world war at Bay.
But for how long, no one knows.
Because there is a little bit of a trickling effect, for people who do not want to give up this notion.
