My fiance has regular periods and she feels it is safe to have unprotected sex 5 days before and 10 days after her cycle. i was under the impression that unprotected sex anytime is dangerous. I would like to know if anyone here who has regular cycles and successfuly uses the above methods.

YOU are right. A woman can get pregnant at ANY time during her cycle, even when they have their period! It is just more likely when she is ovulating. If you don't want a baby, you need to use protection.

A women ovulates 12 or 13 days after the first day of her period. Which means that is when she can become pregnant. Of course there are exceptions for certain women so there is some chance of getting pregnant anytime.

I personally don´t think those methods are reliable, even she says she´s regular she cannot predict ovulation; sperm can live 3 days in her swiming in her fallopian tubes and uterus, so you have to be very careful before and after ovulation; as it is hard to predict, all days are difficult.

The chances of conceiving while ovulation are 26%-33% and it is better to have intercourse before ovulation so the sperm is prepared for the egg; some couples try this to get pregnant.
There is no safe day.

Good luck! ;D

This kind of method is never going to be a sure bet. I have a close friend who used this method and ended up pregnant which caused a whole lot of problems in their relationship. If you are not ready for children DO NOT use this method!! During sex seminal fluid escapes well before you ejaculate... it only takes one swimmer to make your girl pregnant!!!!!

5 days before yes, but not after 10 days. 8th to 18th more chance to get pregnant but after 18th very less or no chance if regular periods,
