There is a simple answer for this one. Females are born with all the eggs they will have for their entire lives. A 20 year old mother has 20 years old eggs. A 40 year old mother has 40 year old eggs. The eggs are exposed to all of the environmental factors that the women is (background radiation, chemicals, etc). The fact that the egg is older means it has been exposed to more external factors which can influence its stability and ability to properly perform.

Im unsure about the reasoning behind the age, I know it has to do with your eggs being different than when you were younger..... I have a son with down syndrome and I was 23 when I had him..... I have several friends now that are young with down syndrome children so dont be fooled into thinking it only happens to older women....

that is spelled down syndrome. regrettably that's incorrect. The situation grew to become into discovered with the aid of johnathan down and named after him so it belongs to him giving the syndrome the appostrafy s. So it would be Down's Syndrome yet all scientific text cloth will spell it without the s.

As we get older, or cells begin to deteriorate, slowly but surely, which is why some people get cetain diseases like cancer, etc. Why do you think it is ALWAYS advisable for people to have kids when they are in the mid to late twenties? Because they are relatively healthy at that age.

Because their body doesn't work as well as a younger body. When the sperm and egg come together, there's a scientific process and that process goes wrong in older women because they're body is old. It's like an old used car is not going to drive as well as a brand new car.

Older mothers are more prone to many things due to hormones. The older you are, the closer you're getting to menopause, which starts making your hormones go out of whack, which is why more older women have multiples (twin, trips, etc), mental problems, etc.

Because the egg is not as healthy as in a younger woman. Most women are safe from that until they are 35.
