The morning update on Wednesday dealt with a soldier, a fake, phony soldier by the name of Jesse MacBeth who never served in Iraq; he was never an Army Ranger. He was drummed out of the military in 44 days. He had his day in court; he never got the Purple Heart as he claimed, and he described all these war atrocities. He became a hero to the anti-war left. They love phony soldiers, and they prop 'em up.

I did get the first hand info because I read the transcript off his site the day of his broadcast. He said "phony soldiers" as a generalization of soldiers who did not agree with his views on the war. Read it for yourself:

The fact that this Macbeth ****** is a phony does not mean that all Iraq war veterans that have spoken out against the war are phony. The VAST majority of them are real, patriotic American men and women who have a fundamental disagreement with our policy in the Middle East right now. They have fought for us and they want to share their experiences. That is extremely valuable. The fact that Limbaugh lumps them all in with the ****** Macbeth denigrates these men and women who have served our country with distinction. I'm not sure why you can't understand that. It's not only the "phony soldiers" that have spoken out. But some would love for you to believe that that is the case. Both sides take too many liberties in their arguments. But don't give me this holier than thou...Limbaugh is beyond reproach crap.

I heard the actual audio, which includes the tone of his voice. Why would I ignore that and accept the truncated transcript you provided? What you linked to is not a transcript of the original comments. It's a transcript of Rush's convoluted "apology" after the fact where he selectively included audio from the original broadcast.

Being that Rush has been the source of numerous smears against those on the left, I find it ironic and hypocritical that he's whining about he himself being smeared.
But to be honest, I don't care. I stopped listening to Rush in the late 90s after coming to the conclusion that he was basically full of it.
