I do not understand all the "if" type questions asked in this forum. Decide for yourself if it is or is not; THEN ask, "What is the seat of spiritual nature?" and see what answers you get. I often do this. The only other questions I ask are those whose answers I do NOT know. You seem to believe the mind is NOT the seat of our spiritual nature, but what evidence do you submit that it is not? I submit to you that you are wrong, that the mind is the seat of one's JUDGEMENT of her spirit, and that her spirit corresponds directly, emotionally, with how she sees her place in the world and what she is in this world and what the world is.*

I cannot prove to you that a soul exists, but I will agree that the seat of the spiritual nature is in the soul. The argument continues that virtue is not teachable, and I am not sure I agree, but the nature of the soul does not seem to change in a person simply because of education. A change in them occurs on a deeper level, where their own despicable nature can be observed and loathed. It is self loathing that gives man an opportunity to consider changing his nature. Here, man must be his own master, choosing between good and evil. Living withing limitations chosen to advance his goodness, or silencing his conscience in a choice to accept himself as evil.

The mind obviously has its seat in the head. Just as knowledge has its seat in the head. It is the eye of desire and the pilot of the soul.
Great question! Have a wonderful day.

Your mind is the tool or vehicle that your souls uses to learn and evolve with. As well is your body and the experiences that you encounter.

Mind of the whole Cosmos is one... individual human beings only have a brain. The mind of the Cosmos acts as the central relay station from where every single thought floating in the Cosmos exists from times immemorial. No human being ever produces any thought. We simply invoke thoughts from mind plus or mind minus!
Both mind plus and mind minus are two compartments of the cosmic mind! From mind plus flow all positive thoughts circulating in the Cosmos. All negative thoughts emerge from mind minus... the command station. From the stage of first manifestation as an amoeba to the form of human beings... we simply invoke thoughts from the reservoir of mind plus or mind minus.
As is our residual balance of karma at a given point of time, so is the flow of thoughts to our brain. Those with a sunny disposition and godly thinking always invoke positive thoughts from the reservoir of mind plus. People indulging in wanton desires and materialistic riches always invoke negative thoughts from the reservoir of mind minus.
The invocation of any thought is always dependent upon the thinking of an individual. If we desire invocation of positive thoughts all the time... we need to travel the spiritual path! Indulging in wanton desires and greed for materialistic riches one simply cannot invoke positive thoughts! As simple as mangoes cannot grow on a guava tree!
The whole Cosmos is governed by the doctrine of karma. By indulging in bad karma we only negate our existence as a human being. Virtues can only be earned by indulging in good karma all the time. As we sow so shall we reap, so says the law of karma! To have a bright future ahead... we need invoking positive thoughts and improving our present.
Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed all reached the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha) after establishing absolute control over the five senses and the mind. The moment flow of thoughts to our brain altogether stops... one reaches the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (state of nothingness).
Every single thought existing in the Cosmos always remains floating in ether! Every human being invokes a thought by indulging in the requisite karma. Conquering the five senses and the mind, practicing absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years... practicing Neti (not this, not this) as preached and advocated by Maharishi Ramana one finally reaches the state of enlightenment and salvation.
Having regained its original pure pristine form... the liberated soul atman finally enters the abode of God... the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism). Entering the kingdom of God is a one-way entry! Having entered the kingdom of God... the liberated soul atman remains in the abode of God till eternity... until the dissolution of the Cosmos occurs!
Establishing control over the senses and the mind is very difficult... but not impossible! If Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ, Prophet Mohammed, Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana did it... So can every human being! Mahavira... the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism always stated... every human being has the potential of becoming a Mahavira... the enlightened one!
