If the British are so good in Basra, why don't they go to another region that still is under attack? Why can't the Americans do the same???

Try reading the whole article instead of just the headline. You can learn a lot that way.

"The Iraq security forces have been working with the British in Basra, and they've been working to get this point where the Iraqis said they are able to take over the security. It seems to me that the British are right on schedule with what they had planned several months ago," White House press secretary Dana Perino said.

They will spin it well I am guessing. They will say 'British withdrawal of 1,000 troops from their base in Basra indicates how safe southern Iraq is becoming, and how great the Iraqi security farces are settling into their new roles'

I agree and I am over the moon with happiness that the British troops are being pulled out, I hope they get to go home, rather than being sent to fight elsewhere, I just hope and pray that Bush will be FORCED into following suit.
God Bless Our Troops, British and American.

Have they left yet? someday even the Americans will leave the region.
When you have a definite date of withdrawal please come back and post a question.
With regards diplomacy it does not work with Muslin Fundamentalist terrorists as can be seen from the trouble spots around the world
Thank you and have a nice day.

The white house will spin it as a positive that proves the war is being won and troops are ready to be pulled. Then when asked a follow-up question on why we then don't pull our own troops now, they will say... the hell with moveon.org and that betrayus ad!!

Presumably they'll "spin" it as a reduction of about 0.5% in the number of troops in Iraq.

I would thank them for thier support and wish them a safe trip home.
Aiding in our (U.S.) efforts does not mean they (any assisting nation) will stay forever in 'every' endeavor.
I also do not believe simply downsizing forces is an end of support from Britain.

"How will neoconservatives spin that one?" By saying that the surge is working and easing the burden from the Brits, letting them "cut & run".... LOL
Yeah, yeah... that's the spin I see coming!
