I just removed some foam toddler bumpers from our wooden table and the double-sided foam tape is stuck to the wood. We tried to peel off the tape but the adhesive is still stuck there and sometimes the foam part rips off. What's the best way to get it all off without destroying the wood or varnish?

(this was a dumb mistake in the first place, I know...)

Have you tried oil? Cooking oil not motor oil. Let the oil soak in. Products such as GooGone are made for adhesive removal and are citris oil based........so I'm wondering if you can get away with vegetable or olive oil........and it won't hurt the furniture. Also try saturating with Pledge or whatever furniture cleaner/polish you use.

No offense to anyone, and Vinegar is a miracle substance; but it's also acidic.

GOO GONE is one of the better substances, and I want to assume the table has some form of FINISH on it.

Cheap and easy, also not damaging to finishes is Mineral Spirits.

Again, no offense but water, and/or HEAT might not be the best solution.

The right side of my bed is the wrong side. I get out of bed on the left side as it isn't the side pushed close against the wall beneath the window.

There is a product called GOOF OFF or another called OOPS! They are used for adhesives and latex paint removal. Find them in your local paint dept store.

Lot of good advice already but do try heat. Use your hair dryer and it will help soften up the glue. Becareful though! if the wood is painted, it may losen up your paint job too!

if all the other things don't work try a little heat on it and try to scrap it off little by little and then a good washing.
good luck

A nice little vinegar & water soak should take care of that.
