I just read an article that basically said if you're buying something and you want a lower price, just ask. I know people haggle to get lower prices at yard sales, maybe farmers' markets, but do you do this no matter where you go? Do you always ask for a lower price or do you just pay what the marked price is? If you're a haggler, what success stories can you share?

Only when I bought 2 rooms of furniture and was paying cash

I am not a haggler. If you want the gas prices to go down, let me fill my tank, and within hours, the price drops. Let me buy something, and the next day it goes on sale

I've done so at flea markets, festivals, estate sales and ONCE in a department store when an item I knew to be going on sale soon for a lower price was being sold at the higher price [got it too, at the lower price] - and of course at automobile dealers! LOL

In the Caribbean I ALWAYS do so...even in the most expensive jewelry stores...and almost always get lower prices than those originally quoted me.

My haggling consists of car things, new cars, used cars, tires, repairs etc. I also get on line with product gripes and have gotten coupons etc. when I receive a bad product. I used to just say OK and forget it now I stick up for myself. I don't haggle at yard sales unless I want to purchase an entire lot of something at a lesser price. I got on line with Pepsi one early AM after I got off work at the Post Office and told them to send over Fabio to open my damn dinky bottle of Pepsi because there was no way I could get the lid off. I got a phone call the next day and free coupons for masses of Pepsi products. I have also sent cudos about good products and gotten coupons in turn.

I DON'T agree with it... some people will drive an extra 100 miles to save 10 cents a gallon on gas... DON'T LAFF..... their are people who do that.... some people will nickel & dime people forever & a day just to save a few cents... my belief is TIME IS MONEY... & I don't got all day to be cheap... something is a certain price for a certain reason & I respect that & pay that price INSTEAD of thinking I am ENTITLED... to a lesser price then everyone else...... also what come around goes around.... if you nickel & time people all the time like cheapskates do IT WILL come back to bite you in the ***

NO I don't...they need to make a living too...why haggle at a garage sell...they need the money or they wouldn't be having the sale in the first place.

Car deals, flea markets and items marked "OBO" other than that -- no. Folks normally think about the price before they
post it, and have the right to make a couple of bucks.

I had a brother in law take me to purchase a new washing machine years ago. He walked in acted as if the purchase was for himself told the man knock off 10% and I'll load that one and take it home. The guy said, no can do. My brother in law said well knock off the sales tax and I'll take it. He did and we did. The sales tax was 7% so I was happy but would never have done it myself.

I never haggle but I envy people who do . They always seem to get a better deal.
