1. Don't expect it to happen overnight.
2. Try changing your appearance. I've no idea what you look like - you may look amazing - but a change of clothes can help you to look confident, even if you're not.
3. An often used phrase is "fake it until you make it". ie, try to act in a way that a confident person would. Eventually this will become second nature to you.
4. Buy Paul McKenna's book on Self Confidence. You will be able to read through it in one sitting and it will make you feel a lot better about yourself.
5. If you are aware of any barriers, try to overcome these. It may not feel like it's working straight away and it may be a little bit uncomfortable but it will pay off in the long run. As an example, I absolutely hate speaking on the telephone. A position for a help desk operator came up in my office so I applied. I'm now working for most of my day on the telephones. Sometimes I feel awkward but I know that my self confidence is building because of it.
6. Don't expect it to happen overnight. - I know that was my first tip but its worth repeating. Its never going to happen instantly but don't give up.

You have it already, all you need do is use it. Generally a lack of confidence is as a result of bad self-talk, reinforcing the negative and not trying to turn it into something positive. Focus on what's good, not the bad and soon you'll be enjoying the fruits of confidence. Strangely we humans seem quite happy to dwell on the bad thoughts and reluctant to embrace the good thoughts. So, work on turning as much as you can into positive messages and everything will follow suite, guaranteed!
I hope jose d means 'wipe it out', not whip it out... sure you need confidence then, but wow...

Woody is offering good advice. Before any challenging situation, such as an interview, date, exam etc, just take time to think through the situation and imagine yourself doing really well. This technique really can help.

It comes from within knowing who you are, what you are and understanding and valuing yourself. if you do this your confidence will be good and so will everything else.
Think posstive about yourself all your good points and understand your bad ones.
