I'm interested in meeting new people and basically I'm at a loss.
I'm very actively involved in Scuba Diving with a local club, but I'm looking for a different social scene.
I've tried Gyms / Sport Centres but they don't really do it for me and I'm not one for running around i.e netball or walking up hills.
I don't really want to take an evening class, as I did alot of studying with the scuba diving and would like a break from books.
I'm kinda stuck and I'm looking for suggestions

Go to your local sewing store. Take a beginners class in quilting or costuming or whatever turns you on. With Halloween coming, costuming would be a natural. The ladies (and a few gentlemen) who take those classes and join the clubs are mostly the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.

If you like writing letters or emails, put your name (ad) on a few local friendship sites (ask for e-pals). If you word your ad as seeking local people, you may find some that are able to meet with you. There are plenty of lovely people in the same boat as you out there - but be careful and only meet them in public in a local cafe at first, for a cuppa and a chat.

Birds of a feather flock together.

Find people who have common things between yo and them.
