i use a system i call the time method
i look at the item and ask?
1. have i ever used this and will i ever use it
2. will i use it in a year
3. will i use it in a month
4. will i use it in a week
and then i also think if there is someone that would like it ( if i decide to part with the item)
hopefully these ideas will spark ur thoughts to realize if u keep everything u have, u wont ever know that its like to have new things!

It depends on what type of clutter you have -- clothes, paper, toys, magazines, dishes, bags of stuff. If it's clothes, you need to sort through them and get rid of anything that you really do not ever wear. Fold or hang all clean clothes and put them away right after you wash them. Keep all dirty clothes separated from the clean ones and put them in the hamper as soon as you take them off. Kitchen -- always clean up a meal when it's finished. Don't just put it all in the sink or on the counter. Bathroom -- put your makeup away after fixing your face. Hang the towels up; don't leave everything laying around. Bedroom -- if your bed doesn't sit real low, there's space under there to store a lot of bins!
I hope some of this helps. Good luck... from one clutter bug to another.

You need to consider speaking to a professional about your problem, If you can't bring yourself to throw things away to the point of stuff taking over your life this can lead to a serious problem. You can't continue to let the lack of not being able to throw things out rule your life, start small, one day at a time, make it a project, if you have say alot of clothing that your not wearing or a lot of furniture donate it, and know that your stuff is going towards helping someone. Give a little, there are a lot of people that really don't have a lot of stuff so give, give give. I guarantee you feel better about giving some of it away.

take one room at a time and remove everything, clean, dust and set your basic furniture where you would like it. Then keep only what you have use for and room for. Put other items in a pile. Continue to another room of your house doing the same thing. Then when your finished box up every thing that is any good and give it to the salvation Army. You have to learn if its no use to you and just lying around you need to get rid of it.

You need to go through it seriously and figure out what you will ever use. If it is sentimental crap take a photo of it and get rid of it.
