I would like to start doing some crafts during the winter. I can't draw or sew so I am looking for things I can make. I like embroidery but what do you do with all the stuff you do. I just want some kind of craft I can do over the winter but it has to have use. I would appreciate any help here. Thanks

like some friends said knitting and crocheting is good.
but as u said u enjoy embroidery go with it. u don't need to create new stuff all the time.

to my experience embroidery is the best thing to bring new look to old things.
like take year old bedsheets, pillow covers or curtains and create new designs on them. the cloth need not be plane. even u can use the patterned cloth.
u will have the same linen but it looks as if u bought new ones.

when i am in college i used to embroidery for neighbors, friends and relatives for money.
when u start doing this u might have friends who need monograms on their tea towels. or their name on pillow covers etc

Do you like painting? If so I have the craft for you. I recently started painting picture frames and decorating them like with pearls and anything small enough that I think people will like. If it's a child, it is what they like, like Thomas the Train, Spider-man, or Care-bears. Just pick the colors out of the theme and use them for accents. Most of all have fun doing it.
Another thing that is fun decorating are wreaths they are fun too. I find it easy to ask the people I am doing things for what they would like or if it is something to decorate a room or a door ask questions and that will help you a lot.
Happy Crafting!

You say you like embroidery, have you thought of doing a theme then making a quilt from your results. It's a great hobby for winter as it can keep you warm while you work on it.

With no offense meant at all; Obviously things we create are things we hope can be useful. Why not direct your notion this way. First of all the DOING is a major part of the experience; and GIFTING can be the "Usefulness" No matter what it is you create.

Certainly there are hundreds of sites online that will offer suggestions; as well as Michaels/JoAnn Fabrics; even for KIT type projects; with instructions.

A quote of mine; even if only vaguely related.

"Often the Journey can be as fulfilling as ANY Destination."

Do a web search on Trash to Treasure items, you can find some good ideas there....my latest venture is making night lights out of wine bottles also lamps, you can also do a web search on making them. Also wind chimes out of old silverware which can be picked up at yard sales and Goodwill....I am always looking or thinking up unique things to make out of stuff....

You can do dollhouse miniatres. They are fun, and you can sell the finished houses for a good chunk of change. This is my hobby, only I don't sell the houses. I"m running out of room in my life-sized house!!

KNITTING!!

It is fun, inexpensive, and keeps your hands warm. Look online for how-tos and projects.

Be careful, though, you'll get addicted!!!
