i see a lot of people in Y!A refer to this sentence :"Israel must be wiped out of the map" , Ahmadinejad says

I dont know how many times native speakers should tell you it was badly translated and its really annoying to see many peaple even proof that ahmadinejad is Terrorist by refering to this sentence !

His Exact Words was :"Israel bayad az sahneye rozegar hazf shavad"
every amatuer translater can say it means" israel must be vanished from the pages of time"totally diffirent from wiping it out

Im neither Ahmadinejad's Supporter nor a denier of iran-isreal conflict but im asking when you are condemning a president or a country use True Facts

please RETHINK or at least try not to use this reference anymore.

If I managed to convince you Star me so that more people see this fact and if not Just dont Report me

Countries can be VANISHED from the map Without conflict

I checked the word
Wipe Out:
to DESTROY sb/sth completely

I dont know how you can say they are the same!!!
They might look the same but a President chooses his every single world carefully

NOTE:Insulting people and calling others Terrorist wont solve any problem

"Countries can be VANISHED from the map Without conflict"

Could be. But in all more likelihood, the chances of a strong vibrant country "vanishing" can only happen if such a country is demolished through warfare.

So, seriously, what do YOU THINK Ahmadinejad really means?

How do YOU THINK he can possibly accomplish this goal?

Put into context of his other statements and in the general context of what ANY Arab leader means when they say "no more Israel" he undoubtedly means to accomplish this through warfare.

Whether he'll actually go ahead and do so is another story but I don't think there can be any ambiguity about his intentions.

If he said it the way you have interpreted it. Can you tell me the difference in his meaning. I am only a woman who has difficulty understanding that when his own people interpret it as, "Israel must be wiped out of the map, and your interprtation states, "Israel must be vanished from the pages of time."
Don't they both ( interpretations) equate to Israel's destruction?
Please Clarify...

Edit: Iranian American: I pray to God that you are right! I would not mind being proved wrong, if this man is as you say.

You're arguing semantics at this point. It's like arguing "she didn't cry, she wept". Either way tears were shed, and no matter how you translate what he said, he wants Israel gone.

Please give a better translation to the sentence. What exactly did he mean in your view.

If I said 'Iran bayad az sahneye rozegar hazf shavad' would you be offended at all?

"vanished from the pages of time' is strange English as well.

Please add more details.

people who have closed their minds to any kind of political discussion have the tendency to be like that throughout all sorts of such explanations...

I know very well the point you are making...and agree with you completely....but these people are stubborn blocks of mountain who will never change any of their views...no matter what clear evidence (and in so many cases PROOF) do for them...

Your motives, as good as they are, will convince a few of them but your attempts are very much appreciated...

Mr. Ahmadinejad is not the 'evil dictator', the media potrays him as...He is a good decent Iranian man with the ambition of making Iranian the country it was supposed to be...as fast as possible, and the rate of growth is worrying the governments of the west...thats what causes the media (part of the tools of our government here in the USA) to paint an entire bad potrait of the situation in Iran...

I wasnt a staunch supporter of Mr. Ahmadinejad when he came to power, but now that I see his intentions...I strongly believe that he is the strong tough man Iran needed for a long long time....the man who can say things correctly not worrying about political correctness.....while we wait for our Imam....

all in all Mr. Ahmadinejad is a sincere man and a proud Iranian...and may he be guided to lead us to recover the glory we had in the past...and secure our future...

edit: another example of the closed mindedness I explained; look at this...Keep the thumbs down coming...I dont care...

In a keynote speech on Wednesday to senior clerics, Ahmadinejad spoke of his strong belief in the second coming of Shi'ite Muslims' "hidden" 12th Imam.

According to Shi'ite Muslim teaching, Abul-Qassem Mohammad, the 12th leader whom Shi'ites consider descended from the Prophet Mohammed, disappeared in 941 but will return at the end of time to lead an era of Islamic justice.

He will be a descendant of Muhammad and the son of Fatima

Will have a broad forehead and pointed nose

Will return just before the end of the world

His appearance will be preceded by a number of prophetic events during 3 years of horrendous world chaos, tyranny and oppression

Will escape from Madina to Mekkah, thousands will pledge allegiance to him

Will rule over the Arabs and the world for 7 years

Will eradicate all tyranny and oppression bringing harmony and total peace

Will lead a prayer in Mekkah which Jesus will be at his side and follow in

While Christians look for Jesus’ 2nd coming, the Jews await the Messiah and Muslims await the 12th Imam. However, of the three, Allah’s designated Mahdi is the only one who demands a violent path to conquer the world. Mr. Ahmadinejad, and his cabinet, say they have a ‘signed contract’ with al Mahdi in which they pledge themselves to his work.

And you wonder why the world see one thing

TO THE SEEKER Why are you avoiding the answer.

Ahmadinejad is calling for the eradicate all tyranny and oppression by calling for the 12th Imam return. So would he not be calling for the eradication of Israel. It is written in other religions that

“When I bring them back from the peoples and gather from the lands of their enemies, then I will be sanctified through them in the sight of the many nations.
I will not hide my face from them any longer, for I will have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Lord. (Ezekiel 39: 27, 29)

“In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves ... And in that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that come against Israel. (Zechariah 12: 2-3, 6,9)”

It sounds like the same idea to me. The pres has said it so many times, there is no mistaking his intent to try to destroy Israel. He is nuts.
