Please explain to me which number u canceled out first...and show the work.

A.) 5/7 + 3 = 215/7

B.) -8 + 3x = 5x - 24

A) Don't really get this...the 2 sides of the equation don't equate. 5/7 + 3 is not equal to 215/7.

B) You have to leave an x term on one side only. So you subtract 5x from both sides of the equation, leaving you with -8 - 2x = 24. Then you add 8 to both sides which will leave you with -2x = 32. So -x = 16, x = -16.

A) what is the question as the problem the two statement were not equal.

B) -8+3x=5x-24
===> -8+24=5x-3x
===> 16 = 2x
hence x=8

or -8+3x=5x-24
===> 3x-5x=-24+8
===> -2x=-16
hence x=8

In part A, do you mean (5/7) + 3 = (21 + 5)/7 = 26/7?
