If we can put a man on the moon, then why can't we as a nation move water from one end of the USA to the other where it's needed in my drought ridden area?

I asked the same thing when I was a little kid about 20 years ago. Back then we had droughts almost every summer and I lived right near Lake Erie and they were still freaking out about the drought conditions all throughout the state. I was like, "What the heck? There is a huge lake to the north end of the state and a big river to the south. How come they can't just truck some water into the middle of the state?" (I'm from Ohio)

Because putting a man on the moon wows everyone, and makes USA look great. No-one will be that amazed that a bit of water got moved even though its more important than a bit of moonwalking.

The man on the moon was put there during the Nixon administration. You are now in the grip of the Bush administration.
Richard Nixon was the last honorable president you had.

We easily could do that, but pipelines dont come cheap. Since people are worried about global warming, why not use tankers to get the melted ice to drought areas? Face it, your government doesnt care. We could put people to work who haven`t got jobs, and also get people off welfare.
