I think if you don't want short cut spelling then please tell yahoo to not limit characters or at least double the allowable characters. Myself I don't mind the characters limited. Some people seem too lazy to bother with understanding the shortcuts.
I usually use shortcut spelling when I can't tell the whole question in the allowable characters limits! Usually things fit the allowable limits but some times it don't no matter how I word it. When I use short cut spelling most of the time I've already tried many times before hand to see if I can get my message across in limited characters!
Sometimes this isn't possible no matter how I word it! Some people are too dumb to realize that &they complain about the short cut spelling.. I think such people are retarded don't you or at least too lazy.. they are probably the type that get others to do their work, they probably never did a days work in their life if they can't bother to realize a simple think as U= You. You?

Anyone thinking short cuts to be sloppy typing is retarded in my books! Short cuts or short hand are methods of saving characters. People that can not understand that they lack intelligence! Short cuts are just used in certain instances. Yahoo allows them! anyone complaining about short cuts is blocked!

Shortcuts don't show lack of ability rather they show coherent way of doing shortcuts anyway that don't see that probably can't even understand can't means can not and don't means do not! Wake up you short cut haters don't you ever use abbreviations?

The size of word isn't what I'm talking about. It's the lack of allowable characters given in an area and in that case tradition is to use the shortest words such as U to = You!
If you don't understand that you don't know about Abbreviations and the systems of traditions that go with that! You better go back to school!

More explanation of Shortcuts on My Blog.. I'll continue using them inspite of those Shortcut haters. They are the once that lack the intelligence to understand short cuts are a form of abbreviation.. On forums to increase space it is tradition to use the common short words.. everyone that's educated properly knows that U= You, Y= Why,
?= What, &= And!

Space limitation.. Space limitation.. Space limitation.. Space limitation
justifies the short cuts on yahoo!
I only do short cuts if long text message doesn't fit in.. and I try hard to fit it in but sometimes the full message just won't fit in without the shortcuts. I used more time to fit in the message not less when short cuts appear in my messages! Frodo59 you miss read things above!

Well, since you've asked:
I think anyone who refuses to use capitals and punctuation correctly is being discourteous and acting like a slob.
This clearly extends to using text-spelling outside of its one legitimate location.

The inability to precis a question may also be indicative of poor English skills.

Unless it's clear that the person is bravely struggling with English as a second or third language ( I can muster some French, but I'd hate to debate in it) then it's just evidence of laziness, low intelligence or poor education.
None of which would much incline me to engage further in exchanges.

This may be wrong. Meeting someone on the road in torn and dirty clothes doesn't mean they are unintelligent or of bad character. But it's a bad first impression that would have to be overcome. The same applies with sloppy typing.

The use of short-cuts in text messaging is justifiable. On YA, not so much. For those of us who do not use short-cuts every day, it slows our ability to comprehend what has been written. If it takes me a few seconds longer to type something out, but it takes several hundred people a few less seconds each to comprehend what I've typed, it is a net gain in efficiency in communication. Also, misunderstandings are more likely to occur with short-cuts. Not a good outcome.

Double the limit??? You're kidding, right? You're not talking about LONG words that some lazy slob is abbreviating, you're talking about THREE LETTER words.
I find them annoying and it makes the writer look lazy.

No big deal! I pride myself on my English skills, and if people profess to know the language so well; why shouldn t a simple shortcut suffice if u know what it means? Lighten-up! The net at times limits ur characters... It s the SUBJECT & CONTENT that matters!
