I had asked a question about the same car 3 days back. The car is a Honda Accord EX 3 DR 1986. Carburettor model. I cleaned the carburettor and it is still stalling. The mechanic says that fuel pumps is not working well and this can caus stalling. I have taken car 8 KM both ways if I use choke on 2nd position all the time.
This pump had failed some time ago and was replaced by another used one. Can it be the pump or I am looking on an electrical fault like distributor?

Car stalls when I stop it at lights. Also when going a bit uphill and when starting from a spot. If I use choke then it runs OK (Not Ok but it does not stall). It also backfires (afterfire according to wikipedia). The pump is inside the fuel tank. How hard is it to replace it? Also if I remember correctly then the last pump installed in it came from a Mitsubishi. Thanks for your time

if the fuel pump is faulty, it will not deliver enough fuel for the amount of air coming into the engine. Using the choke will limit the amount of air coming into the engine, so the inadequate fuel supply will enjoy something near correct air / fuel ratio when using choke. Unlikely a problem with your distributor, but you would have to tell me more about the problem for a definitive answer.

It sounds extra like a vaccum leak. Either on the consumption manifold or one of the crucial hoses going to it. Check your vaccum traces. The brake booster is a vaccum help, that could provide an explanation for your brakes being rough to push.
