how do i record from my cd decks to my laptop so that i can do a cd mix and burn copies to send out?

Put the CD in and use the a media player, such as Windows Media Player to "rip" the songs to your computer.

After you have compiled all the songs you want, then you "burn" the songs to a new CD.
