Physical properties are objective observable quantities. That means they are intrinsic to objects, and measurements can be performed, at least in principle, to determine them. Examples are mass, volume, and speed.

Contrast this with subjective properties, which have as much to do with the observer's perspective as the object observed, like ugly, beautiful, pleasant, and tasty. Also contrast metaphysical properties, which are philosophical interpretations of observables that go beyond the measurable, such as good, evil, existence, and reality.

Physical properties of a material are properties that do not change the chemical nature of matter.

Examples include:
appearance, texture, color, odor, melting point, boiling point, density, solubility, polarity, color, smell, freezing point, boiling point, melting point, infra-red spectrum, attraction (paramagnetic) or repulsion (diamagnetic) to magnets, opacity, viscosity and density.

There are many more examples. Note that measuring each of these properties will not alter the basic nature of the substance. Also, the physical properties are what you can see, not by what the materials react to.

Physical changes are also related to this. In physical change, the change will be on changes in the examples above. For example, if you cut paper or color the paper, only the size, shape, or color change, but the paper is still paper, right?
