I think people are sick of the superconservatives. They want a fresh change that works for them and the majority of people around them. Both Giuliani and Clinton are relatively moderate compared to the others, so they appeal to a broader range of people.
What does he have that Fred Thompson doesn't have? A brain.

Well, your question doesn't really make sense. Rudy and Hillary are not close to being friends. I guarantee that.
Rudy is on top of the ticket because he has a record of accomplishment that all other candidates wish they had. Here's a sample:
1) Broke apart the mafia's stranglehold on NYC as a U.S. attorney and the mayor.
2) Lowered taxes 23 times and by doing so proved that more revenue comes with lower taxes.
3) Got 640,000 welfare recipients off welfare and into jobs.
4) Prosecuted insider trading in the stock market so vigorously that he helped to eliminate corruption.
5) Brought safety and security to the city, allowing residents to stop fearing the streets.
6) Conducted drills and dry runs to terrorist attacks, which helped his staff and city workers to save thousands of lives on 9-11.
7) Has met with dozens of foreign leaders in their countries as the head of his security advising firm to establish the strongest experience in foreign policy of all the candidates.
And since you're a fan of Fred Thompson, feel free to include additional facts to show me how Thompson's record of accomplishment even comes close to Rudy's. I'll check back and see what you got.

Giuliani is a Liberal Republican and it is the reason why he is being favored as one of the candidates for President.
VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know if Giuliani will likely win.

His rep from 9-11 will kill him when it catches up to him. The real reason why he appears to be on top is because he is pro-Choice, which captures a large proportion of the distaff vote.
However, the Christian Coalition is gearing up to run a third party candidate to prevent Rudy's election in the event that the GOP ignores Ralph Reed and the ChristoNazis.
Should be fun to watch :-)

Neither he or Hillary are fit to run our country IMHO.
Both represent special interest, not we the people.
