if you have captured a terrorist that knows of a nuclear bomb that is going to blow up in your country and kill thousands of your very own country men and women, is it ok to tourture him in order to stop this from happening?

I would do anything to find out this information. Perhaps not with a clear conscious but the lives of innocents take priority over my own personnel convictions. As a leader hard decisions need to be made sometimes and idealism cannot cloud the judgment of the nations interests.
The Geneva conventions does not apply to terrorists as they are not "uniformed soldiers" under the control of an established governmental body.
Do I think that Torture is good. Not at all. Is it necessary, sometimes.

Yes, of course. I would get an operative like Jack Bauer.
Why? We are much too soft on terrorists! If we love our country, and our people, no matter their political ideas, we need to get tough. I would not risk the lives of thousands to be kind to a terrorist. I would find a way to make him talk, whatever it takes!

Treat prisoners according to the provisions of the Geneva Convention but information received must be acted upon immediately.

Terrorists have no Geneva Convention rights, they should be tortured for any useful info and then summarily executed.

Torture is a notoriously ineffective way of getting information so it is not just not ok - it is pointless.
