enjoy it while it lasted but the limelight is only something that others put on you it is not you so it wouldn't bother me

I'd use Stratagem. Meaning I'd leave them to bask in my limelight until they are nice and tan.
Then when they're done I'd tell everyone - "That was the opening act..."
