Melbourne or Perth.
I live in Brisbane..
& I've been to Sydney.

Brisbane: Nothing special. Seriously. Its got a few sight seeing and exhilarating moments but nothing worth the money you spend if you have the opportunity to come to Australia.

Sydney: Pretty damn cool. Not the best but you have everything you could want here. Luna Park (Theme Park/Circus) Sydney Opera House + Bridge && Shopping Centers that spread across the city. Theres so much to do and the city community reunites together at night and if your looking for entertainment then this is the place to be. BUT the standard of life-style and living is a little dodgy. The traffic is annoying and the people are a little awkward at times. But i don't know how this city might treat you when you come around.

Perth: Supposed to be the cleanest, most beautiful and enlightening city across Australia. Sight seeing is a must. Its probably the only city that hasnt destroyed mother nature as much as any other and therefore leaves absolute amazing unforgettable opportunitys.

Melbourne: The city of fashion and food. It offers unique advantages that spreads across the CBD. I've never been but from what reliable sources have told me, Melbourne is a must.

I've added notable links below. They are official and show you events/tours/concerts and variety of things to do. It really depends upon the type of person you are. But i ask if you do go and take my advice.. that you letme know how you found the city you had chose. So in other words please keep in contact? =]]

Good luck in your travels. Hope you have a pleasant stay in Australia. Vote Best Answer? Thanks - Sid ^^

I live north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast which is very close to Steve Irwins Zoo. So fly into Brisbane and come to the Sunshine Coast where there is golden beaches and night life. We also have under water world where they have the largest squid in the world on show.

Pick any at random - the people are the same, worry about what you'd like to see and do - every city has an attraction as do the locals living there.
New Zealand is worth a look!

You are going to get a different answer from everybody in every different state in Australia.
If I posted a question about coming to America I will probably get about 52 different answers!
I say visit them all, then come back to Adelaide.
