Hi Third P.
I think that the ideal state would be to have BOTH the pleasures of affection and pleasures of the senses.
Actually, pleasure of affection may be a precursor to pleasure of the senses
If you think deeper about it, pleasure of affection IS pleasure of the senses, just a milder version of it. Your senses are aware of affection, someone gently holding your hand or caressing your cheek, for example. They are pleasures of affection; but how do we know that? By sensing it.
A grandmother can caress the cheek of a child; the child senses it & recognizes it as affection. The child may then kiss the grandmother on the cheek. She senses it & also recognizes it as affection.
The 2 usually go together, but not always. Where there is affection, there is pleasure of the senses also. However, there can be pleasure of the senses without affection.
For example, a man can have sex with a woman without feeling any affection for her, and vice versa — a woman can have sex with a man without feeling any affection. People do have empty sexual flings where there is nothing but pleasure of the senses.
In that scenario, I agree that pleasures of affection are greater than pleasures of the senses. In the scenario I described, the sexual experience is devoid of any affection, any caring for the person; it is simply selfish enjoyment, without any concern for the other person.
In a true loving sexual relationship, there is affection, which gives great pleasure. It also leads to a greater pleasure of the senses since each person cares about how the other person feels. It is not selfish; it is giving & sharing.
Yes, I do believe the two genuinely belong together for true pleasure. That holds true in both an adult sexual relationship as well as a loving relationship such as the child & the grandmother. Pleasure of the senses is always there, but adding pleasure of affection makes it absolutely wonderful. The perfect combination of pleasures.

The pl. of aff. are not greater than the pl. of the senses. The latter is often prerequisite to affection, and the existence of affection rests in perception of/by the senses; therefore, if affection is dependant upon the senses in order to be then it can not be greater. Argueably, the impact from the senses far outweighs that of mere affections. Personally speaking, pleasures of the senses are more real and inviting...take care...

The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative. Is not the Judgment greater than the Will? Self refection makes possible affection and affection makes greater value of the senses. If I had not Judgment, it would make no difference to lose my senses as I could not feel their loss. So too could I not feel the loss of an others love which I could only know through my Judgment. The Judgment lets me pain, the Will lets me heal.

Are you trying to say "is it not better to give than to receive"
meaning is it not better to give someone else pleasure rather than receive pleasure yourself? If this is your question the answer for me is:
There is nothing more pleasurable to give an appreciative recipient pleasure. However for someone who feels the same as I do, my receiving from them IS giving them pleasure and so quickly the lines between these two people become blurred and the greatest state is achieved, two people giving and receiving pleasure to and from each other in a reciprocal symbiosis of mutual love.
Or if you mean is it better to paint than to see a painting, play music on your own instrument than hear it played,
I must say I love both equally because you cannot be an artist without appreciation of other artists.

That may be true in some instances but when you have an experience that involves all of the senses in a heightened state, then I think the senses win, hands down!!
Not talking strictly sex here...may involve sex at some point but just heighted awareness of all the senses for a prolonged period of time, in conjunction with another person whom you love, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Bombastic!!
