Why do scouts on parade all have the same uniform and look immaculate yet Girl Guides have a mix and match uniform, meaning that no 2 ever look the alike and instead of looking like they all belong to the same organisation they look rather akin to a walking jumble sale

i agree with you i used to be in the guides and i was proud to wear such a smart uniform now my daughter is in rainbows and she wants to go through to brownies and guides but i think the uniform is not that special it is just t-shirt and trousers so i would like to see a much smarter uniform brought back so our children can get the same sense of pride when they put it on, i say go back to the same uniform across the board and just have the different coloured neck scarfs to represent the different troop much smarter.

In my opinion, the boys have had the same style of uniform for the past 30 years or so, whereas the girls uniforms have changed with the times. This is the way with style; men's clothing is pretty much the same as it has been for the past, oh, I dunnoh, maybe 300 years, whereas women's clothing is constantly changing. The girl guides stress individuality, whereas the Boy Scouts clothing is supposed to be practical for camping and meetings.
