Thankyou Ray,
I have been trying to bring the issue of mental health and depression to the fore for a long time!
No one listens!!
I hope Ben is ok.

I'm rather shaken by all this really. A lot of rubbish has been thrown at these (and other) players.

If they were ordinary folk nothing would be said. Drugs and depression are killing or damaging so many of our best and brightest, known or unknown and Governments and people are too scared to say anything. Mental Health and Drugs (closely related problems) are issues that need to be dealt with by far more than "zero tolerance" (whatever that means) and embarrassment/exile for the victims.

It goes way beyond politicis or club allegiances.

I would hate to see a guy like Ben Cousins (or any other person) succumb to this.

It's such a tragedy and I am not surprised that Cousins tried offer help and support to his good friend. He's been through so much and has come through amazingly well. All he needs now is to be left alone...away from public scrutiny, so he can mourn the loss of his great mate. I think this is going to be an extremely difficult time not only for Ben but for all who knew and played with or against Chris. But I do believe that more than anything Ben will relise his decision to seek help and get himself clean was the best decision he's ever made!

Yes they were very close and this will be hard for Ben and I am sure there will be plenty of people out there that will want to use it to attack him once more but now is not the time judge and you are right about depression it can affect anyone.
