I have used both and I prefer bagged. An upright is good because it stores eaiser. Just nest it in a closet or up against a wall. Might I sugest one with onboard attachments?

A Dyson upright is well worth the investment! No bags to mess with and it really cleans. Buy the best vacuum your budget will allow. Cheap ones don't always clean as well and you'll just need to replace it sooner. I have had my Dyson for 5 years without problems and am never disappointed with it's performance. I always used a lot of vac bags and find going bagless to be a nice savings.

Bissell upright, bagged and baggless, Walmart $45. These vacuums really suck.
