Then its all about the Video Graphics card.
Go with an AMD Duo
Get yourself into an SLI setup where you can pair video cards.
And then youre gaming Boy!
Match yourself up with 2-4 GB of System Ram,
and BAM, youre running everything smoothly and set yourself up for the future with 2 video cards.
The RAID0 setup the first answerer told you is useless junk from a person who doesnt know anythign about gaming

1. the faster the processor, the faster the game capabilities, but be sure to get a raid0+1 set-up and dual pci express x16 video for best graphics. better chipset is nvidea on the north bridge. if you are a gamer, change the board to achieve best capabilities using pc 6400 at 800 mhz memory of at least 2 gb ram on a board able to expand to 8 gb (4 x 2 gb). personally i'd go with an amd athlon 64 x2 6400+ windsor at 3.2 ghz processor. ($239 at newegg.com)

I would go with the extreme but my personal favourite is the Core 2 Quad Q6600. Its not very expensive compared to the Extreme either.
