Have you had a look here? http://www.moneysupermarket.com/broadband/ to see who's available, and if possible, I'd recommend "BE"

The answer to this depends on how you intend to use broadband. There is no best company for everyone.

I'll try and simplify it for you.

- BT is MOST likely to give the best combination of reliability plus customer service (I didn't say they were the best) and a decent price

- For a customer service focused provider, choose from Zen, Be, or Madasfish

- Want to combine broadband with TV or Phone? Try Sky (Broadband with Sky TV subscription) or Talk Talk (Broadband and Phoneline for 16 pounds plus per month). This normally works out cheaper than having broadband on its own. These options are fine for light to medium broadband usage.

- Bear in mind that you're looking at least a 12-18 month contract with most of the major providers.

I've been on dialup since 99 until I just got DSL last week and compared to comcast its just as good if not better. I can download a 80 mb file in 9 minutes. And that is the slowest speed cause I have dsl lite from AT&T and its only $9 a month. Why pay comcast $60 when you can get it for $9 from AT&T.....
I hope that helps some. I'm very happy with what I have.

In reality there isn't much to this. First decide what you can spend each month on the service. Then depending on where you live will determine what Internet Service Providers you can use.
Always remembering that Dial-up is Slowest followed by DSL followed by Cable.
Many users opt to use cable service because of there speed and literally NO download restrictions.
Some that may be in your Area, TimeWarner Cable(Roadrunner).
Comcast just to name a couple. (From $24.00 UP TO $49.00 a month)
Many will make you a good deal for first time hook-up and especially if you use them for TV, and Internet as well.
Same holds true with the Telephone Companies, and DSL I use SBC (ATT) YAHOO DSL. (From $14.00 to $30.00 a month.)
You will need to contact Telephone and Cable Services in your locale to see what is available.
Not all services are available in all area's you are going to have to check.

I have been with be* last 4 months. Speed is very good. I had some problems before but it is okay now. Good thing about this company is there is contract option. You can try and decide.
