What are your Father's hobbies? Does he lie to fish? Play Golf? Baseball etc. Take it from there. A good illustrated book is always welcome and make it special by signing it on the inside cover with a little note as well. I hope you find something nice for him but I am sure that he will love anything you give him. It is the thought that counts.

Well it would depend on his interests. I think though an all purpose gift would be the same thing he would enjoy for a Christmas gift. A mongrammed handkerchief? A new tie to go with a new satin shirt? If he likes outdoors maybe a nice button down sweater for the season of the year. Older people are easy to please. They like to know you appreciate them so any gift you think of is a good one

You need to give us some hints - what are his interests?
For my dad's 60th birthday, becasue he likes wine, I 'adopted' a vine in a vineyard in Gloucesteshire. You get to name it, can visit the vineyard for a guided tour including a glass of champagne to toast your vine, 2 bottles of wine to take away and discount in the shop. He loved it!

Mine used to like good cigars or a new pipe. Make it something that he really enjoys rather than something he needs. These are his last years and he should be given things he considers enjoyable.

How about making a collage or a little scrapbook with pictures of you and him through his life.
Or maybe something home-made.

If he has a bad leg then buy him a good quality walking stick.(one made out of something that can last long)
Buy him a carrot cake.(It is healthy and delicious)
And last but not least buy him a watch(made out of gold)to keep track of time.
Hope this helped.
