Who are some great guitarists from the 50's?

I know Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, and Scotty Moore. Buddy Holly isn't bad either. Who else? If you list session musician, give some examples of which songs they worked on.

Buddy Guy, Chet Atkins, Eddie Cochran, Guitar Slim, Gatemouth Brown are among a few who come to mind in various genres.

Most of the guitar playing you hear on 1950s New Orleans rock and roll songs is by either Earl King, Snooks Eaglin or Guitar Slim.

Buddy Guy was a teenage session musician in Chicago for Chess Records after catching a train from Baton Rouge.

Chet Atkins practically owned all the rights to playing guitar on country music back then.

Gatemouth Brown was a session man of considerable skill in blues, country and rock, and could also play great fiddle. He was mostlly based in Houston back then.

Les Paul man! nobody mentioned HIM! Les is the man behind it ALL! Forget the fact that he conceived the idea for the solidbody electric guitar (Sorry Fender fans....there's proof of it) , and invented multi-track recording - in the 40's and 50's, the man was a shred guitar pioneer. He played with an energy level , chops , attack , note choices, ....the man was just great! He took the influences of Gene Autrey and Django Reinhardt, and sent it to outer space, and brought it back down to earth, and forged a legacy that was never challenged. Now at 92 years of age , he still has a regular weekly gig at a NYC jazz club. I tell ya - when Les Paul dies , his estate will be worth more than the Trumps and Hiltons of the world! , and that's not even including what the Smithsonian has of his.
