Because they are using this forum as a chat room and want to find other people who agree with them.
It is especially annoying when many people take the time to present facts and sources and then the "best answer" is one which has an avatar of the asker's favorite team.
Why isn't there a way to report THAT for abuse?

it is just to see who agrees with them? Or else people just wonder if other people think like they do? Suppose some really are the same questions on everybodys mind but nobody else asks it? Then the answeres would remain secret for everyone because noone asks? You are at dinner and someone you know asks a question for you but you know this person already knows the answere then you say to this other person...Why do you ask that? You already know the answere. How come litening never strikes twice in the same spot? would be a typicale question everybody knows the answere to since elementary science. ..Of course as we all know ...Even the guy who asks it...It just doesn't..But it will always be a good question to ask because there is no real scientific explaination

Well, I admit that those who say, "Who is the stupedist group of fans. I say it's the Yankees'!" are hard to bother with. But sometimes I ask questions to start a dialog. Sometimes I have a notion but I'm really fishing for a good enough argument to help me settle in my own mind an issue.
Then again, when some on says, "Cubs win! Isn't it great!" they are beaming, and that's all right.

God damn that is annoying. They all ask questions and only choose the best answer as the answer they want to hear. I remember there were like 10 questions in the football section about LSU/USC and despite the great answers favoring LSU, the one that got chosen as the best said "USC. Fight on!!"

Because they might have doubt and need it to be cleared up, and some reassurance, always helps.

because they're insecure and they don't feel confident, and that you need to tell them what they want before they realize they want it...
