I already answered this question in your previous question. Medicaid is the answer to your troubles. But in order to take advantage of medicaid, you can't have any assets so the house must be sold or cleared completely out of her name for a period of time before medicaid will be available to your mother.

You can't. When her resources are spent, the house will have to be sold and the proceeds used to provide for her care. Once that's depleted, Medicaid will step in and pick up the slack.

Any attempt to transfer her assets to hid them from Medicaid is fraud. Any transfer less than 3 years prior to the need for pubilc assitance is presumed to be an attempt to hide the assets. You'll have to pay out of your personal pocket an amount equal to the assets disposed of or otherwise hidden before Medicaid will start paying.

Since she doesn't appear to have long-term care insurance coverage, there is no way to protect the home or her other assets beyond a very limited exempted amount. Sorry, but that's just the way that things are.

You can talk to a social worker at the nursing home. My husband has his mom in a nursing home for a year & 3 months. We don't know when she'll get out. She already ran out of her money that she had in the bank. They are now taking money from her $1,000,000.00 apartment complex that she owns. When she gets better, they will give her a payment plan to pay the money back. If she can't finish paying if off, then one of her 5 children will have the opportunity to pay it back or lose the building. I don't know anything more, except that you should talk to a social worker at the nursing home. Ask for one. Good luck. Wish you the best for you & your mom. I will remember you in our prayers.

Get her to transfer the title of the house and all of her assets to your name then get her on medicaid. they'll pay for it and she gets to keep her money as long as you're not shady.
