We're doing a forum for school and the main topic is globalisation. In addition, if you could give us a definition of what YOU consider globalisation, that would be great. Thanks.

Globalization: the mass trade of culture, ideas, technology, people and death.

The quote "global trade expansion is the only route out of poverty for the world's poor" is horrendously untrue. Globalization seems like a way for wealthy western countries to rid themselves of surplus weapons, selling or even giving them to poor countries, who then use them to fight over the few precious resources, which they then export back to western nations at a low price (i.e.: Sierra Leone and Blood Diamonds).

Globalization also creates problems with food scarcity in poor countries. Because globalization seems like such an opportunity for making money, poor countries tend to use entire labor forces to make or cultivate an exportable good that they do not produce enough to nourish their own people.

Ergo, globalization is not a perfect solution for the developing country. They might want to try government projects like they did in the Us and Canada after the great depression.

well that's subjectified. but what it will do is set up a GLOBAL-dollar or pesos or whatever (and all the other currancies that resist will be systematically destroyed and converted) so that every inch on earth is overseen by the same governing body. so it is a concept/ a hypothesis. but world trends do indicate markets oligapolizing. pluss the Euro and you can see we're well on our way towards globalisation.

One may think globalization is a way to bring people out of poverty but I believe it is just the opposite. It is an oppressive system. Just look at the way things are at this moment. high prices with low wages. Profit is the motivator. Nothing else matters.
