No. The excuse that "I have a child and it has ruined my ambition" does.

If the parent loves their child I would say no.
There is a country song about a man who wanted to go to California and have a fun partying life. This was his dream but he got married and had a little girl. Then, he sang, "There goes my life".
He sang about her growing up and how much he loved her and the cute things she would do that touched his heart.
His little girl grew up and got married. He had tears in his eyes because he said "There goes my life" the same words he spoke when she was born.
At the end of the song, he sang and said that she was his life. He was glad that he had her because he had a better life.
Time will answer every one else's life.
I guess a true answer could be, only if you let it.

I believe you mean ambition and NO having a child does not ruin a parent's ambition. I believe it increases it at times.

children don't ruin a parent's ambition...
for me personally, my career ambitions on put on hold and my children became my number one priority...as soon as I felt they were old enough to be taken care of by someone else I concentrated on my career ambitions
