Windows XP Home

What should I do? The system worked properly until now.

I had problems coming out of standby so had to force reboot. It prompted me for the system disk and after going to repair with the CD it says:

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives make sure they are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct this may involve running a manufacturer supplied diagnostic or setup program."

"Setup cannot continue. To quit setup press F3"

Actually now everything is fine .. it seems to have fully repaired. Hard drive does make clicky noises more it used to be quiet. But for now seems to be working.

Clicking noise means a failing hard drive. Do not risk putting important files there. Better be prepared to replace that drive. Here's how it is usually done:

Enter the BIOS and see if the hard drive is detected there.

On most computers you enter the BIOS by tapping the delete key at power on, some brands are different. If the delete doesn't work.
Look for the "press -- to enter setup" at startup, and press the key it tells you to.
If the BIOS sees the hard drive, then you need to either do a repair install, or a fresh install.
There are ways to repair the boot sector and master boot record, but that gets a bit complicated.
