Child, it is said the greatest truth in life is Death. Everything else is just a dream in between birth towards death. So dream and dream and enjoy the inbetween. It is natural to be scared of death as we don't know what lies beyond it. But honey we can never know that until we are there, who knows what lies or if anything does. As for hating the challenges of life, honey the sweetness of rewards are all the more sweeter after experienceing the hard part of life, and coming out despite all odds. I think if there were no challenges to overcome, life would be stale and boring. A life time of sundays can after a while get tedious as well you know. As for living forever, you can do that, by doing things that matter to those less fortunete then yourself. You are an educated person, you have a computer, so it means you have the means to the luxries of life, that now seem to have become necessities, but stop to think of those who can't even go to school cause they are too poor and have to work to help support the family. So enjoy and appreciate what you have for you never know it might not be there tommorrow. And if you what to seek some meaning to live by, help someone, even if it is in a small way, and you will be forever remebered and live on in the memories of that person or persons. You are here to help others and in turn find joy in that endevor, so that you can die with the satisfaction that at least your life was not in vain and that by being you, you helped another live a quality life. You are young yet, and it is the age to ask such questions, don't worry hang it there, and when this phase passes by, you will find your nich in this world. Believe me I and millions of others have been there before you.

I'm not sure exactly how you mean this question, but I am guessing you mean what's the point in scaring ourselves to death with worst case scenario thinking. You are right, that kind of thinking only works to bring it all about, thoughts are that powerful. No point really, except most people rarely understand their part in bringing their greatest fear about. My mother once said to me, "I have always been terribly afraid I would get cancer, now I have it". She began to see her part in this process, & maybe that is the only point or lesson. To do it till you make the connection that how you think & the words you say have a powerful impact on your life.

I've NEARLY scared myself to death a few times (knowing how my OCD's are =p) with things such as unknown diseases and omg, pregnancies. There's no point, but I guess it makes us extra cautious.

there's no point

There IS, however, a point of scaring yourself NEARLY to death because then you can really appreciate that life feels GREAT!!!!!!

If you live your life safely and sedately, you will die of boredom.
