I want to know if you were, for example, drinking from a glass and just kept drinking and drinking... is it dangerous for your body? Is it possible to somehow drown from this? (I don't mean by shoving your head in a bucket of water!).

In a word, yes. Drinking too much water can lead to a condition known as water intoxication and to a related problem resulting from the dilution of sodium in the body, hyponatremia. Water intoxication is most commonly seen in infants under six months of age and sometimes in athletes. A baby can get water intoxication as a result of drinking several bottles of water a day or from drinking infant formula that has been diluted too much. Athletes can also suffer from water intoxication. Athletes sweat heavily, losing both water and electrolytes."

Yes, that is quite dangerous. A radio station got in trouble in the last year or two, I believe, from holding a supposedly station-sponsored contest to see who can drink the most water (they were told to drink cup after cup after cup, etc.). One participant, a young woman, DIED from competing in the contest from water poisoning.

Drinking excessive amounts of water at a time can also damage the kidneys and prostate. Not to mention, it hurts when you urinate (if you don't stop drinking water when THAT happens, God help you, I guess).

Yes. You will screw up the salt balance in your body and you will die. Don't do it. Some lady died drinking water for some stupid radio contest not too long ago.

Anything in excess is harmful to you,no matter what.
Common sense seems to be lacking in a lot of cases, and those who promote such excesses need to be made accountable.♥

Of COURSE it is! Put too much of ANYTHING into your body- and you're going to have SOME kind of negative reaction. You can "O.D." on Pizza -it you eat too much of it. What "happens" to your body when you DO- isn't important. You're still gonna end up DEAD. :)

It's not really harmful if you ever had drink a lot of water, because first and foremost,it is very essential to our body.In fact our body loses billions of tons of water everytime we perspire,urinate,etc...And as far as i know,it's up to you if how much water you would drink.I think you can't drink much more water than you're stomach's capacity right? Its really up to your consciousness.
Well..,hope this helps...
