I personally don't do it. But I've read it relieves tension and relaxes, one of the main underlying problems of Social Anxiety Disorder. It would sort of make sense.

To cure or at least alleviate the symptoms of Social Anxiety Disorder, one must explore the emotions underlying/triggering the anxiety and also connect with a community of people to end the isolation. Masturbation generally serves to cover or alter the person's emotional state (we call it "self-medicating"); it also tends to be an isolating act that leads the person away from community and into his own head (a rough neighborhood--don't go in there alone!). If you want to overcome Social Anxiety Disorder, masturbation will hurt your chances. I'd recommend this: Each time you want to masturbate, figure out what the underlying emotions are and write about them. Good luck! You're not alone.

I am single mum. I have been suffering for panic attacks for some 15 years now, though it was not until recently I understood what they were. They were progressively getting stronger and more frequent, stopping me from some days even leaving my house. I read this book and it all made perfect sense.

I am not saying I was not terrified of putting theory to action, I was more scared of that than the next attack! But I decided to view it as a game, one I had control of and could therefore not lose!
