"Twelve states require, under most circumstances, the consent of all parties to a conversation. Those jurisdictions are California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington." The rest, and D.C., are one-party.

It's illegal to record a conversation you're not a part of. It's perfectly legal to record a conversation you are a party of.

In Missouri, only one person involved in the conversation needs to know it is being recorded.
