My wife and I sleep with a large window fan in our room. The fan causes "white noise" which drowns out all other noises. You will be amazed at how well you sleep with the fan running.

Your husband could have sleep apnea. It can cause very excessive snoring. My father has it and when he slept, you could hear him across the house (with the tv blasting). Have your husband go through a sleep study. When he is properly diagnosed, he will recieve a c-pap machine which will keep his airway open and force air into his lungs and will stop the snoring.
I don't mean to scare you, but if he does have sleep apnea and it doesn't get taken care of, he could very well die in his sleep.

Short of making him sleep in the garage, the only quick and easy band-aid is custom made ear plugs.
FYI, When I lost the forty pounds for the diabetes, my snoring went away along with the fat.
Snoring is not necessarily a symptom of a heart problem. It is a symptom of sleep apnea which is caused by excess tissue in the soft palette in the back of the throat. Losing weight is often the best solution. Sleep apnea can lead to circulation problems and oxygenation of the blood, but it doesn't directly cause heart problems.

This is serious. He needs to be checked.. He is gasping for breath. His airway has closed. There is a new medical device that solves the problem.
If it isn't fixed, he can mess up his heart. There is an obstruction in his airways. Its called sleep apnea. He can be evaluated in a sleep clinic overnight.
There may be a simple solution for the problem but he needs to be checked.

It might be that he has sleep apnea, which is bad for the brain in the long term.
He should have a test at a sleep laboratory. See your doc.

God be with you sister! I feel your pain my hubby does the same shakes the walls he does. Ear plugs are OK but I some times move him out of the room and on the couch or shake him while saying" Stop!"
