If you are caught on tape with an illegal weapon in the privacy of your own home, can you prosecuted?

Possession of a deadly weapon is punishable per se under the law. Thus, a person caught on tape with a deadly weapon even when at home, could be prosecuted in court.

Yes. If the video tape can be authenticated in a court of law and admitted into evidence. That's pretty strong evidence of your criminal act.

Suppose you murdered a person on tape in the "privacy of your own home." Same thing. In fact...people HAVE gone to prison based on such videos if the tape came into evidence.

The only reason I can think of you wouldn't be is if you could prove before your trial that it is only a replica.
