Hai guys!

I have a big issue.. Probably not that big but its big for me.

Here is my problem. I have this 640mb XFX geforce 8800 GTS XXX Graphics card at factory OC'd @ 600/1500/1900.

I when on load its touching 80 C.

I am a bit concerned about this. I would like to run my PC 24/7. But with this clock speed and Temperature there is no way I am gonna risk frying my Card.

One of my friend suggested that underclocking the card could solve the problem. But unfortunately neither him or I dont know how to underclock a card.

Can I under clock a factory overclocked card using some utility like ATI tool or Riva tuner or similar tool to stock speeds and run for 24/7.

I am not talking about permanent underclocking through BIOS flashing. Just a temperary Underclock so that I could run my system 24/7.

So when I game, I could turn off the software ( ATI Tool, etc) to change back to overclocked speeds.

Is it possible? Or is it just a stupid Idea of me?

Please help guys!

looking forward for your Urgent replies.......

Regards

80 c is just normal on load.

Some cards even go up to 100 c.

Well as others have said, that is not that high, and if you are really concerned you might invest in a GPU cooler. With one of those you could probably clock it even higher and have the temps go down. But anyway, just download nTune, and underclocking it is just as easy as overclocking it, just set the speeds to where you want them.

If you're concerned about the temperatures, try moving more air through your case with more fans. Also, if you're comfortable with taking the heat sink off of the video card, replace the stock crap they use for heat sink compound with Arctic Ceramique and get a larger, all copper cooler.

Like the first post stated, however, this chip is designed to run hot under load.

Get ATI tool or sum clocking tool and set the core frequency to lower than its original

That temp is normal but you could drastically reduce it with this awesome cooler:

But you could give Riva Tuner or nTune a try.
